Who doesn’t love a weekend away? Well I do, and last weekend we enjoyed a great break in the nation’s capital.
Hubby had to stay down there for meetings so we decided to make a weekend of it. The weather was warm and the Floriade tulip festival had just opended (Australia’s largest celebrration of spring with over one million flowers in bloom).
Staying in one of my favourite hotels, the Hyatt Hotel Canberra, the children and I just relaxed around the hotel, going swimming, playing tennis and feeding the ducks and black swans on the lake. We always visit the Australian War Memorial when in Canberra, and the displays get better every time. With 2015 being the centenary of the ANZAC landings in Gallipoli in the First World War, it was more poinient then ever. The children’s education and intercative centre is excellent.
My hubby normally takes us into Parliament when we visit, showing our children the House of Representatives and Senate chambers. Questacon, the National Science and Technology Centre, is also a must if your with little ones.
The Park Hyatt staff always make us feel very welcome and the hot breakfast buffet, pastries, pancakes and homemade bircher muesli are fantastic. We can’t wait to visit again.
