A day at the Sydney Carnival

On Saturday I enjoyed a fabulous day at Royal Randwick.  This was the final day of the autumn racing carnival and the Sydney crowd certainly turned out for the event.  As well as the horse racing and fabulous fashions it was fantastic to spend a day with one of my best friends, Renae, and other great friends.

What made it even more interesting, was the fact that my friend Renae’s husband’s horse, Artistry – an exquisite bay coloured mare, was racing in the Saphire Stakes.  She came in third!  Her jockey was Hugh Bowman, who had earlier in the day ridden the famous racehorse, Winx, the winner of the Queen Elizabeth Stakes!

As soon as I knew we were going to the races I knew what to wear.  We enjoyed most of the afternoon eating and drinking in the in the Owners’ and Trainers’ Pavilion and mingling with fellow owners.  The Championships attracts the best of the best of the racing world and is certainly a feature on Sydney’s sporting and social calendar.  We were attending day two, the Longines Queen Elizabeth Stakes Day, and the weather couldn’t have been better.  Funnily enough, it was the Grand National back home in the UK on the same day.  Another famous annual horse race.

The day was fabulous. A great atmosphere and brilliant company. I hope you like the photos I am sharing, and I would love to hear your comments.

Have a great week.

OMG!!!!! My eyes popped at the photo with the bag, and dress, It must be the angle. This is one of my favourite posts, although I have never been to the races. In Melbourne I always desired of going to Oaks day just to dress up in something fancy! The dream came true in Port Douglas, haha! And I wore a fascinator that Melbourne Cup day and then again in Merredin for the luncheon and won Best Fascinator!

You look absolutely stunning and wish I was there with you to celebrate!
