How to wear a skirt in winter

Here’s my tip on getting out of jeans and into skirts this winter

As I write this post on my hotel balcony in tropical Singapore, I am all too well aware that I will be back in Sydney in a few days and they are having record cold temperatures. The coldest in 10 years to be exact!

I still find it hard to imagine that while I am sat here, its freezing cold in Sydney but back home in Blighty, and across Europe and North America it’s the height of summer.

I always tend to wear jeans in winter, as they are easy and warm. But after a while I start to miss wearing skirts. It’s hard sometimes to get it right. What may look good may leave you cold and legs full of goose bumps. And what may keep you warm may look frumpy!

My perfect skirt for this winter (and into spring) in Australia is this fabulous Chiquito Mini Skirt from Melbourne based fashion store Belle Cose. It has a faux suede feel with a delicate tie waist for detail.

I have been pairing it with some warm knits and jumpers, usually black or grey. I don’t think you can beat a jumper or knit with a skirt in winter. A round neck jumper or chunky turtle neck knit are what works best for me.

I try to wear it with bare legs (self tan is a must) but when it really gets cold, a pair of black tights enhance the look just as well. As with many of my outfits, a pair of ankle boots are my go to footwear. Healed or flat ankle boots both work well.

I hope this post has been useful for my friends and followers in the southern hemisphere, and also a bit of pre-season use for those enjoying the warm summer right now in the north. For all the details and to purchase this skirt please visit the Belle Cose website by clicking here. I know I’ll be back wearing it in a few days! And by the way, it’s in the sale too ~ bonus!

Have a great week.
