My big investment piece for winter
Over the winter I have been having a really good clearout and a tidy-up of my wardrobe. I needed to! I couldn’t fit anything else in there and I was overflowing into my husbands and into my daughters’ wardrobes. Recently I had shipped out to Australia my entire house contents which have been in storage in the UK for several years (thats a whole blog post in itself).
Several bags were donated to local charity shops and I had a stall at the Kirrlibilli markets with other blogger friends to sell many other items.
After de-cluttering I have been trying to create a wardrobe that is classic, feminine and stylish. A wardrobe that it will last for many many years, not just a couple of seasons. Pieces that can be paired with several other items.
One item I was really missing was was a classic winter coat. It has been so long since I bought myself a new coat. I couldn’t decide which style or colour, etc that I really liked. That was until I saw fashion blogger, Victoria Magrath from In the Frow, wearing this fabulous Gucci coat in her posts from New York. I fell in love with it immediately. The one problem was that it was not available in Australia. Luckily for me, my husband was going back home to the UK for a week, and when he returned he had purchased it for me. How lucky am I?!
I am not going to pretend that this wasn’t a huge investment. I would never normally pay that sort of price for a coat but I just love it. My love of luxury pieces has developed over the years but very few of us can afford any more than a couple of pieces. Thats why my wardrobe really is a mix of high street and high end designers. I really love TopShop, A&F, Zara, Reiss and a real favourite, All Saints, plus Marks and Spencer!
This coat has been fabulous this past winter in Australia. I just love the detail. I certainly will be wearing it through into the start of spring in September.
As you can see hear I have paired it with my favourite ankle boots, a tailoired white shirt and creamy pink mini skirt. This pretty necklace really finishes off the look! I also wear the coat with skinny jeans and ankle boots – it really is so verstile.
Thanks for visiting and for reading this post. I would love to know what your winter favourites are what your wardrobe classics are.
