A week at the W Singapore – Sentosa Cove

by

The school holidays were fast approaching and both my husband and I wanted to get away with the children for a week. To escape the winter in Australia and find a great hotel where we could relax and enjoy some warm weather.

We decided to head off to Singapore and stay at the W Singapore at Sentosa Cove. We tend to always stay at Starwood or Hyatt Hotels as we have membership of both the SPG and World of Hyatt programmes.

Although in Singapore, this is not a city hotel. The W Singapore is located in an ultra-exclusive part of Sentosa Island.

The holiday started as soon as we arrived at the airport. My husband has Platinum frequent flyer status so we checked in at the Qantas First area and then enjoyed a full breakfast in the Qantas International Lounge. After a 9 hour flight from Sydney, and a 40 minutes taxi transfer to Sentosa Cove, we arrived at the W Singapore. It is one of those hotels that you are immediately impressed from the moment you walk through the front doors.

We had a booked a room with two Queen beds, but there was still so much room and space for us and the children. We went straight onto the balcony overlooking the pool and gardens. Such fabulous views as we also looked out over the South China Sea.

The room was so welcoming. Mood lighting (in fact there are four different moods for the room and balcony – Hello, Escape, Runway and Flirt), chill out music playing on the surround sound speakers, welcome chocolates and personal message and furnishings and décor that was truly outstanding.

The bathroom was equally impressive – a super deep bath for enjoying a relaxing soak, a rain shower, an endless selection of Bliss Spa bathroom amenities, super-soft W branded bathrobes and décor that was just as fabulous as the bedroom.

Breakfast was served in The Kitchen Table on the ground level right next to the swimming pool and terraces. While the cost per head was far more than I would normally pay, the selection was endless and the quality of the food first class. I can strongly recommend the freshly cooked chocolate donuts and pastries on the bakery area!!!

While there we spent every morning by the pool and most days enjoyed a poolside lunch. The very large pool had a selection of floating mattresses to chill on in the sun and a great wet bar. Surrounding the pool were beds with soft towels, or super-large hammocks if you fancied one.

We left the hotel most days to explore – time at Resorts World Sentosa (easily accessible on the hotel’s luxury coach that takes guests to other parts of the island and to the city several times a day), a day at Universal Studios, shopping at Vivo City, shopping along Orchard Road in the city on our wedding anniversary and visits to Marks and Spencer to stock up on ‘critical essentials’ to take back to Australia!

It is also important to mention that the hotel has a state of the art gym and super spa with an extensive menu of treatments.

Will I return to the W Singapore Sentosa Cove again? The answer is a very big yes and as soon as possible. We loved out stay, the children had a fantastic time, and we returned back to Sydney relaxed. I just need to start saving for our next trip!
