My custom LBD

It’s the height of summer here in Sydney, with temperatures averaging between 35 and 40 degrees (95 to 104 degrees for my American friends) and I am spending the whole summer in Australia this year. Sadly, no snowboarding until next winter! Summer down under is amazing and I am very lucky that I have been invited to several events and parties before the children go back to school in February, which means finding the right outfit to wear, and one that will last me for years to come.

Which leads me to this question. Have you ever seen a dress, which you love, but would prefer it, if it was slightly shorter or longer? Had a lower neckline? Or even different sleeves?

I have too!  Well, I think I may have found a solution to this problem.  eShakti an online woman’s fashion company, has a wonderful collection of designs, from dresses, tops and skirts, through to weddings and evening wear.

There are three easy steps:

  1. Firstly you pick your favourite design, whether it is a dress, top, or trousers from the eShakti collection;
  2. Then, tell them your measurements.  Even if you choose not to customise the outfit, they need to know at least your height to give you a good fit; and
  3. Next you have the opportunity to customise your design to suit your style, if you would like to, from a higher hemline to adding pockets.  eShakti customise all designs free for all first time customers.

The clothes are then hand crafted to your order and then sent on their way to you.

I really love the fact that you can adjust the length and neckline and enjoy the fit of a one of a kind piece.  My favourite is this Contrast Collar Cotton Poplin Dress in black. I love Chanel and this design is very “Chanel’ looking. This fit and flare dress in a contemporary cotton poplin fabric has an air of vintage glamour, but with chic sophistication from a contrast collar and turned cuffs.  I was able to choose from 2 different necklines, 7 sleeve types and 6 different lengths.  I really could make it suit my style!  Just to give you some idea, I could have had a mandarin collar, or round collar.  The sleeves could have been anything from three quarter length to a cap sleeve.  I was amazed at all the different options available to me.  Plus it was fun designing my own outfit.

After filling in my details online, the dress was with me, within a couple of weeks. I love it – the style and the fact it’s made to fit me.

You can check out their website and style by clicking here. I am sure you will love them as much as I do.

Have a great week.
