Getting ready for Summer

If you are reading this and you live in Australia, you will know the temperature hit 38 degrees celsius this weekend. Perfect timing as the spring (horse) racing season has started with the Melbourne Cup only a few days away.

It also means getting my wardrobe ready for the hot weather. Away go the knits, jumpers and coats until the start of autumn (but I’m pleased to see how on trend cardigans are in the UK this autumn). But it’s also a great time to refresh my spring and summer clothes. In saying that, I don’t like getting rid of anything and I’ve got clothes in my wardrobe that I’ve been wearing for over ten years!

I am looking forward to summer this year. Days at the beach, or by the pool, evening drinks and parties, and some exciting events to go to. Plus we are having Christmas and New Year in Sydney rather than heading home to Surrey in the UK.

There are a few trends that I particular like this season which I have already added to my wish list. A beautiful white dress appears to be a must for my summer wardrobe, matched with some large earrings and big sunnies. Layered necklaces and an oversized blouse with denim shorts. Plus you always need a statement accessory.

Summer days also mean extra accessories to carry, so a bucket bag is a must and still very much in.

For the beach and pool days, high waisted bikinis, or high cut 90’s style one pieces, look good. One of my favourite Aussie swimwear brands, Ossix Swim and they have a fab new collection out for summer.

I am looking at doing my next blog post on my top five summer holiday must haves. Let me know your favourite trends for the spring and summer.

Have a great week

I love this summer look. Only wish it was still summer here!
